I build tools that turn ideas into real useful things. That’s anything from AI chat and transcription to physical security readers and controllers. In my spare time I hack on music tools (e.g. automating creation of Keygroup programs for AKAI MPC).
I ship high-quality, reliable products: smart cards that unlock doors, biometric readers that authenticate at a touchscreen, credential platforms serving airlines and governments. I’ve led engineering organisations across five countries with budgets north of $9M AUD.
At Trellis Data, where I’m CTO, I’ve focussed on driving operational excellence. For example, removing manual release steps moved us from hours of work to under 3 minutes per deploy. Realistically, that’s hours of downtime and manual work under pressure to none.
Previously, I was at Identiv for 15 years (Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering and VP of Engineering), Service Architect at idOnDemand in San Francisco, and roles at ActivIdentity (now HID Global) in Paris.
Side projects
Instrumap turns a folder of multi-samples into a ready-to-play Akai MPC or Force keygroup program — pitch detection, velocity layers, loops, EXS24 mapping. $4 on Gumroad, free updates through v2.0. If you’ve ever set up a keygroup by hand you’ll know why I built it.
